PwC China has opened its AI Innovation Centre in Shanghai, positioning the new facility as a "key engine" of AI-led value creation.
The centre brings together internal research and development capabilities as well as broad-based industry support to create AI solutions designed for local market demand.
It draws on PwC's global network, linking domestic innovation with international best practices.
The aim is to help companies across sectors capture AI opportunities and generate measurable commercial value, the company said in a statement on 22 July.
More than 100 attendees took part in the official launch event.
They included representatives from the government, technology enterprises, ecosystem partners, academic institutions and industry associations, alongside PwC China's management team.
At the event, panel discussions followed the inauguration, with PwC China releasing its 2026 Intelligent Robotic white paper.
The discussions also brought together industry experts to examine future trends and implementation pathways for China's AI sector, while highlighting findings from the company's AI Performance Study.
PwC said the centre is built around five core pillars within its AI ecosystem strategy in China: research, factory, alliances & ecosystem, industrial exchange and talent development.
According to the company, these pillars span the full value chain, from advanced research through to real-world industry deployment.
It added that the centre's exhibition space is intended to function as a collaborative base for PwC specialists and clients, providing interactive demonstrations and joint prototyping to speed up the development of customised AI road maps.
The company also outlined plans to support businesses in launching their own AI transformation programmes efficiently.
PwC global chief AI officer Joe Atkinson said: "The Centre brings together PwC's global AI expertise with the strength of our local capabilities, positioning us to help both domestic enterprises and multinational clients operating in China adopt AI responsibly and effectively."
