Hasbro raised its full-year financial outlook on Tuesday after Magic: The Gathering surpassed $500 million in quarterly revenue for the first time in the card game's history, driving a 16% jump in overall company sales.
The Pawtucket, Rhode Island-based company lifted its full-year revenue growth target to a range of 5% to 7% in constant currency, stepping up from the 3% to 5% it had previously guided. The company also raised its adjusted EBITDA guidance to a range of $1.45 billion to $1.50 billion, compared with the prior target of $1.40 billion to $1.45 billion. The adjusted operating margin outlook was raised to 25%-26% from 24%-25%.
Second-quarter revenue rose to $1.14 billion. Analysts had projected $1.07 billion, according to Reuters . Adjusted earnings came in at $1.28 per diluted share, above analyst expectations of $1.14 per share, according to the Wall Street Journal .
The company's Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming segment led the quarter with 27% revenue growth, reaching $663.8 million. Magic: The Gathering revenue grew 32% to $545.3 million, fueled by the debut of the Marvel Super Heroes set. The mobile game Monopoly Go! contributed $44 million to the segment.
"Magic: The Gathering eclipsed $500 million in quarterly revenue for the first time in its 30-plus year history, led by the record-breaking debut of Marvel Super Heroes," Chief Executive Officer Chris Cocks said in a statement. "With strong indications for our remaining releases and line of sight to continued growth in 2027, the Magic flywheel is firing on all cylinders."
Consumer Products revenue grew 5% to $463.0 million, aided by entertainment releases including Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. The segment reported an adjusted operating loss of $7.5 million, reflecting tariff costs and seasonal patterns. Entertainment segment revenue fell 20% to $12.8 million, which the company attributed to the timing of deals.
Hasbro recorded a net profit of $160.9 million, or $1.12 per diluted share, reversing a net loss of $855.8 million, or $6.10 per diluted share, posted in the same period a year earlier. The prior-year period included a $1.02 billion goodwill impairment charge.
The quarter was also affected by a cybersecurity breach the company identified in late March. The breach cut roughly $25 million from quarterly revenue and added $11 million in incremental expenses, according to the company. Hasbro said it has brought order processing and shipping back to normal but cautioned that further costs tied to the incident are anticipated in coming periods.
The company returned $133 million to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases during the quarter and paid down $55 million in debt. Hasbro's board declared a quarterly dividend of $0.70 per share, payable September 2.
