Amazon is expanding its logistics business, accelerating delivery speeds, and generating stronger profits.
But growth does not mean every Amazon warehouse or job remains safe.
A newly filed Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice shows that Amazon plans to shut down another Florida facility, affecting nearly 500 employees.
The closure follows a separate Amazon facility shutdown in the state that affected more than 600 workers.
Together, the two notices show how Amazon is adjusting its enormous fulfillment network even as the company handles more orders, delivers products faster, and opens its logistics infrastructure to outside businesses.
Amazon, the e-commerce giant, will shut down operations at its PBI3 facility at 7600 LTC Parkway in Port St. Lucie, Florida, effective Sept. 17, according to a WARN notice reviewed by TheStreet.
The closure is expected to affect approximately 494 employees, with separations taking place on Sept. 17 and Dec. 17.

However, employees who accept another position within Amazon before the separation date will not be laid off as part of the closure.
The company said affected workers would receive information regarding benefits and, where applicable, severance.
Most of the affected workers are fulfillment-center associates, with the notice listing 466 employees in the FC Associate I role.
The Port St. Lucie closure follows Amazon's decision to shut down its TMB8 facility in Homestead, Florida.
In April, that facility ended operations effective July 2 with separations scheduled through Sept. 30. The closure affected approximately 616 employees.
The largest affected group at the Homestead site consisted of 506 FC Associate I employees. The cuts also affected managers, transportation associates, safety employees, medical representatives, and human resources workers.
Combined, the Port St. Lucie and Homestead closures affect approximately 1,110 Amazon employees in Florida .
Both notices use similar language. Amazon described the separations as permanent but said workers who secure internal transfers before their scheduled termination dates will not lose their jobs because of the shutdowns.
The notices do not explain why Amazon selected the two facilities for closure, but both sites are expected to reopen after major upgrades.
