Skanska wins $111m contract to build aluminium facility in Norway.
Skanska has signed an agreement with Hydro, an aluminium and renewable energy company, to construct a new aluminium wire rod production plant in Karmøy, Norway.
The construction contract is valued at around Nkr1.1bn ($111m), or roughly Skr1bn.
Skanska reported that the contract will be accounted for in its Nordic order bookings during the third quarter of 2026.
The project involves building a production facility at Hydro's existing site in Karmøy. Plans include a new production hall equipped with furnaces, a wire rod production line, and various additional structures for maintenance, storage and office functions.
The contract includes civil works, installation of technical systems and integration with the site's existing infrastructure.
The new line is designed to produce around 110,000 tonnes (t) of aluminium wire rod per year.
Construction at the site has already commenced, with completion of the facility targeted for March 2028.
In a separate announcement, Skanska revealed the sale of the second building in its office project Studio, located in Warsaw, Poland.
The property, sold to Stena Real Estate for €159m ($181m), will be recognised in Skanska Commercial Development Europe's third quarter of 2026 results.
Transfer of ownership is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
The Warsaw project features a high-rise office building comprising about 27,700m² of gross leasable area spread over 26 floors.
Completed in the final quarter of 2025, the building includes tenants from financial, pharmaceutical, energy, technology and professional services sectors. It has been designed to seek multiple certifications for sustainable practices and digital infrastructure.
Skanska also announced a contract to build a data centre in Virginia, US, valued at $94m, about Skr870m.
The project entails the construction of a 19,500m² data centre with four data halls, site work and underground utilities.
The building will be the second on its campus and is due to begin construction in October 2026, with completion expected by May 2028.
Last month, Skanska was awarded a £282m ($373m) contract to build 55 Old Broad Street, a 23-storey office tower near London's Liverpool Street Station.
